Make Your Network Efficient, Reliable, and Secure
As your business evolves, routing and switching serve as the cornerstone to delivering business information and provide the foundation for other networking solutions. The products and solutions are designed to deliver performance, high reliability, and built-in security, which help ensure that data is protected and that applications function as promised.
-
Cisco Catalyst
Switches are a core component of Cisco Network Systems. They deliver the features that offer smart, simple, and secure networks to all users, and they allow for future deployment of advanced applications without major network upgrades. With features such as Power over Ethernet, they enable wireless connectivity to wireless access points and IP phones. Cisco Catalyst switches integrate security across a system, enabling the network to manage users while protecting itself from viruses and hacker attacks.
-
Cisco Integrated Services Routers
These routers provide multiple secure services at wire speed and help increase network performance. These routers provide an option for built-in wireless LANs, and include Cisco Self-Defending Network security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPSs), virtual private networks (VPNs), and Network Admission Control (NAC).
Cisco 2800 and 3800 Series Integrated Services Routers are voice-ready, enabling businesses to safely add voice and better serve their customers. The expertly designed router architecture simplifies setup and streamlines management, helping to reduce costs.
-
Cisco Services Aggregation products in the WAN and MAN

Switches vs Routers
While switches and routers have evolved and the lines between them may seem blurred, one simple distinction remains: Switches reside within a local-area network (LAN), while routers are needed in a wide-area network (WAN) environment.
It's analogous to an old-fashioned office phone: Switching is like dialing a four digit extension to reach someone in your building, while routing is like dialing 9 to get an outside line, and then dialing a seven- or ten-digit phone number.
